Alison, as for the colors, I have two words:
polarizing filter
It definitely does some weird things with the sky. There is quite a range between the top left blue and the bottom right blue. Probably something a pro would look down on, but I like the way it looks in this one.
The tack sharp focus is just…well, I’m jealous. I’m so bad at focusing these days! Bah! Love the pic. 🙂
Kara, I discovered something new this week. In the latest version of the canon digital photo professional software, they have added an unsharp mask you can apply to the raw files. Sweet! I’ve only tried it out on the macro leaf picture, but I ended up not using it. It enhanced the noise from the little point and shoot’s raw file.
don’t know what it is about this photo, but i really like it… sort of magical somehow…
