Tree O’ Autumn: Week One

Last year this tree was tracked by photo once a week. I liked seeing the progress of its color, so here we go again. There’s more yellow visible in person than you can see here.

Cole’s BALL this time…

The grass is struggling to survive in the carpet of fallen pine needles…and a baseball. 🙂

Last year, I took a picture of this cotton field just before it was to be picked.  This year, there is nothing here but last year’s stubble!  Below is the picture from 2010.

Blue House on the Run

Blue House is a great place to take a laptop and work for an hour or so. I love starting off my week there, so I and my mocha-addicted brain were sad to see that they were closed today for maintenance. These trees drop their leaves fairly early every year. I was afraid I’d miss them if I didn’t take some pictures now. From the porch I was happily snapping away when the owner came out to see what I was up to. I guess he decided I wasn’t too menacing. =)

Soup’s On

A simmering pot of soup on the stove is one of the great things about fall and winter. Here, the beginnings of chicken and wild rice soup…crafted by candlelight, of course. =) (Kara, thanks for the food/photo inspiration.)

Beauty from unexpected places…

We headed out to the Abilene State Park today for a bit of hiking. This was the very first photo I took and it was the best from the day….
