Kara and I both found ourselves at a pond today so I had to post my pond.  (Yes – they were different ponds)  I wanted to do another overedited picture and this one seemed to be a good subject to try it on.

Since Christi blew the bell curve today, it is a good time for this post.  I love the pictures that Dave does at night with long exposures and since this is a challenge to try new things, I decided that yesterday was the day to give it a go.  While not as good as the amazing Dave would do, I do not think it is too bad for a first attempt.  I might have to try this again some time before the challenge ends because I like how night photography comes out.  This particular shot was a 25 second exposure that allowed a little bit of blue sky in the background that you could not see with the naked eye.

Of course I had to use one of Kara’s cameras in order to have a long exposure time and I must say that I have enjoyed playing with the DSLR.  While DSLRs do not take better pictures than other cameras, they do make it easier to get a quality shot.  (Sending out praise to Mom, Dad, Alison and Emily for their amazing stuff taken on less expensive equipment.  I do not mean to only praise them though because the rest of you are VERY impressive as well but they are the only ones of us that have not used the “fancier” cameras at least once.)  Terrific job to all for this little experience.  Everyone in the challenge has had some great shots which have been taken on anything from a camera phone to professional equipment.  I would love for you all to get to play with Kara’s camera equipment like I do because I am curious to know how your images would come out.  But you can’t – at least until November 1.  Keep up the good work Family.

Since I am trying new things I thought I would give it another go with the “super macro” function of my point and shoot.  Mosquitos made me quit so we will go with the last one I took.

I wanted to try out the super macro function on my camera and this is what I found as a subject.  This thing is TINY.  Maybe a few inches across.  I am not completely satisfied with this attempt but it will have to work for today since the sun has already gone down.

Ok.  Maybe I (thinking of the proper word here) modified it a little.  Just some minor cropping, midtone color enhancements, contrast, brightness, hue, saturation adjustments – alright – I edited the snot out of it.  But I only took about 3 pictures the entire weekend and they all sucked.  So welcome to my contribution to this site – a West Texas sunset viewed through the rearview mirror with some wind turbines above on the horizon.  Ahh a fun filled Friday night.  Slightly modified of course.  But I defy you to tell me that the sky is not actually purple – you weren’t there.
