Surprise. I’m taking a picture in my back yard

I really need to be a little more original instead of just doing the exact same thing all last year and this year.

I found fall

Okay, I found fall in Cloudcroft. I hope this isn’t selfish of me to do, but I want to post three today. It’s tough to decide and they are three very different pictures.

a plethora of pumpkins

I took a bunch of pictures with my camera, and then took 2 with my phone. The phone pictures turned out waaaayyyyy better than the camera ones. (you can’t hear it, but I just sighed a HUGE sigh)

the detail God puts into His creation is AMAZING!!

Ok, quick explanation. I used the church’s digital camera (Canon g11), which has a macro mode which lets you focus as close as a centimeter. Yikes! So, using that camera, I took a leaf, a floodlight and a styrofoam plate to take this picture. A picture of the setup is below; for a little perspective let me tell you that this picture shows about a half inch of the leaf.

  • Aperture: ƒ/4.5
  • Camera: Canon PowerShot G11
  • Focal length: 6.1mm
  • Shutter speed: 1/160s

sounds like a song – “one of these leaves is not like the others”

Autumn Challenge 2011 is here! My first picture-the bradford pear tree

I decided to start the 2011 challenge with the tree I enjoyed taking pictures of so much last year – the bradford pear in the backyard. I am using this first post as a red/green barometer for how much the tree will change over the next six weeks. So, 30 pictures and 4 “error 99s” later, I got my shot.
